Hello,
My name is Kari MacLean. I arrived in the Chapel Hill area in 1993, where I attended UNC-Chapel Hill, graduating with a BA in Religious Studies. The years since I have focused mostly on being a stay-at-mom, taking runs and gardening whenever time allows. My journey with Woods goes all the way back to the Cole Park location where I started guest teaching. In 2008, the oldest of my four children "won" the lottery and my involvement with the Woods community became greater as a parent, volunteer, frequent guest teacher, and a Teaching Assistant for first grade and EC. My older children graduated from Woods in 2019 and 2021, and my younger two will be in 4th and 5th grade this school year.
I have been teaching EC for two years and couldn't think of a better place to do it than in the Woods community. In my classroom (virtual and in-person), I strive to provide a welcoming and encouraging environment where students can be themselves while living up to their greatest potential.
