This is my 14th year as Woods´ Speech Therapist, and 27th year practicing Speech Language Pathology!  Wow. How did that happen? Originally from Charlotte, NC, I received my B.A. in Communication/Journalism from UNC-Wilmington ('88) and then my M.S.  in Speech and Hearing from UNC-Chapel Hill ('92). Before coming to Woods, I worked in the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, Durham Public Schools, Fort Bragg Schools, and also WakeMed Hospital on the CVA and TBI Units. I continue to volunteer with the Triangle Aphasia Project (TAP) during the summer months, but my first passion is child speech and language development. I enjoy walking my dog, Sugar, playing with bees, eating Muscadines, writing children's books, and giving presentations, on occasions, on ways to facilitate language and literacy. I am best known around Woods as Noah's mom (WCS Class of 2018.), Jane's mom (WCS Class of 2016), and Odom's mom (WCS Class of 2014), and also as the "Lunch Bunch Lady",  which is a weekly social skills group designed to build pragmatic and interpersonal speech communication skills among students. I am so grateful to be able do what I love, in a place as special as Woods Charter School. I look forward to working with you and your child!
