This school year will be my first as a teacher at Woods Charter
School. I have been a Woods Parent for the last three years and
I am very excited to join the Woods Faculty as a Middle School
EC teacher.
The goal of becoming a Special Education teacher began after I
graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a B.A. in
Sociology. I wanted to continue my education and earn my
Masters in Social Work. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do
however; I knew that I wanted to work in a career where I helped
people. I took a job as a support teacher in a center for children
with special needs. I immediately fell in love with working with
children and knew that I was meant to be a teacher. I attended
Bridgewater State College to earn my license in Special
Education. My first teaching job was as a 7 th grade special
education teacher. Teaching middle school students quickly
became my favorite age group. I enjoy getting to know the
students and figuring out how to connect with them. My goal is to
help each student feel successful and to appreciate learning. I
am looking forward to making new connections at Woods.

My journey to Woods started four years ago when my family and I
moved from the Boston area to Chapel Hill. Moving to a different
part of the country was exciting and a little scary. Luckily, my
parents, siblings and in-laws all live in NC. We have finally
settled in and are happy to call North Carolina our home. Our
three kids, 4 dogs and guinea pig keep us very busy.
