Hello everyone!
My name is Mikayla Castellano and I am excited for my first year at Woods Charter School!
I am a Pennsylvania native and attended the Indiana University of Pennsylvania where I received my BSEd in early childhood and special education in 2018. During my senior year of college, my family moved from Pennsylvania to Pittsboro, NC. Since then I've been visiting this area during my school breaks and have fallen in love with the people, the weather, and the area!
Upon completing my undergraduate degree I moved to Memphis, TN to participate in the Memphis Teacher Residency program (MTR). MTR's mission is to recruit, train, and support effective teachers who are placed in the high needs school of Memphis, TN. While completing my masters degree in one year, I was also teaching full time under the tutelage of a mentor teacher through the MTR program. I was then contracted to work in the Memphis schools for three years where I taught grades K-2.
I just moved to the area in early August with my 3 dogs and 1 cat! One of my major hobbies is to train and compete with my dogs in competitions and dog shows!
