Parents of 11th grade students - PSAT/NMSQT on Wednesday, October 16

Students taking the PSAT/NMSQT should arrive at school on time and well rested.  They should also bring a snack (food and drink) and their charged calculator. The length of the test is about three hours.  Students are responsible for ensuring their electronic devices are not in the classroom during testing. All electronic devices, including smartphones, Fitbits, etc., should be left in the car, at home, or in the locker.

Parents of 3rd grade students - Beginning of Grade 3 (BOG3) Reading Test 

As part of the Read to Achieve law (G.S. §115C-83.1) passed by the General Assembly in 2012, your child will take the Beginning-of-Grade 3 (BOG3) Reading Test to establish a baseline measure of beginning third-grade reading skills.  This test will be administered on Friday, September 6. Please have your child at school on time and well rested. All electronic devices should be left at home.

Delayed Math EOG and EOC Reports

The Individual Student Report (ISR) for students who took the math EOG in grades 3 through 8 and students who took the NC math 1 or NC math 3 EOC will be mailed home next week.  

Parents of 11th grade students - PSAT/NMSQT on October 16

Mark your calendar for Wednesday, October 16.  The PSAT/NMSQT will be offered at Woods to all students in grade 11.  Scores on the PSAT/NMSQT are used to determine finalists for the National Merit Scholarship program.  The PSAT/NMSQT scores can be used for eligibility at the community colleges. 11th grade advisors will have the forms starting on Monday.  The cost is $17. Forms along with check/cash are due by September 10.

Important Changes to the AP Exams

Beginning in the 2019-2020 school year, there are changes in the enrolling and ordering of AP exams.  If students are interested in taking an AP exam and are not enrolled in the AP course, they will need to talk to their teacher and pay the AP exam fee by September 20.  The cost is $94.
