When and where is the ceremony?
At Woods, in the gym, on Saturday, June 12th at 10:00 a.m.
The school's address is 160 Woodland Grove Lane, Chapel Hill, NC 27516.
Where do I park?
The only reserved parking is for handicap parking. All other school parking spaces are open to all. We will also park in the field across Woodland Grove Lane from the school. Parking attendants will be present to assist.
How long does the ceremony last?
We expect the ceremony to last about 2 1/4 hours. It is a long-standing Woods tradition to allow all graduates to address the audience after they receive their diplomas. This tradition makes for a deeply meaningful ceremony, but not a quick one!
Are seats reserved? Do I need tickets?
This year, each senior is allowed six guests. These guests will be seated in pods. Seating within a pod will be shoulder to shoulder, but pods themselves will be physically distanced from each other. The only reserved seats are those for the graduates themselves, the faculty, and for guests requiring special assistance. All other seats/pods are first come, first served.
If you require special assistance, please contact school administration prior to the ceremony at (919) 960-8353.
Will the event be livestreamed for people who are not able to attend?
Yes, we have hired a professional videographer to assist with livestreaming and recording the event.
Are masks required?
Yes, all participants (faculty, students, guests) will be required to wear masks while inside the school.
Did the school consider holding the ceremony outside?
We considered holding the ceremony outside in the field behind our school, but soon realized that the access to the field posed accessibility issues for some of our participants. We also wanted to preserve the tradition of students speaking at graduation, and we decided that it was unreasonable to ask participants to sit outside in the heat of June for that much time. The noise from the road is also a distraction.
Will there be a guest speaker?
Since we allow all seniors to speak at graduation, we do not have an outside speaker.
What time should graduates arrive?
They should report to The Glade at 9:00 a.m.
