Welcome! My name is Bailey Watson and I am one of the high school mathematics teachers here at Woods Charter School. I’m a proud graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and am also a Woods alumni. My journey as an educator has taken me through various roles, from teaching Middle School Math at Woods Charter School to providing valuable tutoring services at Central Carolina Community College. I even have experience working with preschool to elementary school aged children, and have spent many summers working for and directing summer camps.
My teaching philosophy revolves around empowering students with the tools they need to advocate for themselves and to become independent learners. I also embrace the role of a big brother with my students, by fostering a supportive environment that nurtures their growth and learning. I take pride in being the one to help students find their voice and connecting them with various resources. Likewise, I enjoy being able to teach students real world skills that are cultivated in a classroom setting, but can be applied to any facet of their lives. I enjoy playing sports and spending time with friends and family. I also strongly believe in being a lifelong learner in every aspect of my life, so I strive to learn something new regardless of what it may be!
