Hi, my name is Kimberly Houston and I am thrilled to be your school nurse!  I have over 15 years of experience as a Pediatric Nurse and the health and well being of children is one of my greatest passions in life! I received both a Bachelor and Masters degree of nursing from UNC-Chapel Hill and am specialized as a certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Early in my nursing career, I worked at UNC Children's Hospital and cared for patients with a variety of medical, post-surgical and trauma related issues. Following graduate school, I began my practice as a PNP at a primary care clinic in Siler City where I served for almost 10 years. I took some time away from work to stay home with my kiddos full time and then life led me here, for which I am very grateful. I have a deep interest in connecting with kids, helping them feel better when they are sick, and teaching them how to stay healthy, both physically and mentally. I believe in treating the whole child and take a holistic approach when caring for children with an array of medical, emotional, and behavioral concerns. It is well known that children learn better when they feel at their best physically and mentally so I am here to support them in whatever way I can.

I was born and raised in North Carolina and am an avid Tarheel fan so I bleed Carolina blue! GO HEELS! I currently live in Pittsboro with my husband, our two daughters, and our adorable, hilariously rambunctious, furbaby Luka. We love hanging out with our extended family, exploring outdoors, going on adventures, hiking, being on the lake or at the beach, or just staying in, cooking, baking, playing games and having movie nights.

I am super excited to be a part of the Woods Family and want the staff, students, and families to know that I genuinely care for you and am here to help with any of your physical or mental health needs. Please do not hesitate to reach out and schedule a time to see me if there is anything I can do to help.
