Pascale Bost

 Bonjour,

My name is Pascale BOST. I am from Lyon, France and have been living in the US for 7 years. I'm the French teacher in Elementary school.

For the past 5 years, I've been teaching French to elementary school students, applying the CNED (Centre National d'Education à Distance) program. This program is supported by the French Government to provide students living in a foreign country, a level similar to the French national school program.

The program teaches reading and writing. The supporting materials are made of lessons and exercises addressing diverse topics (poetry, history, comics, letters, recipes, signs...).  I've been teaching it from first grade to third grade.

It's my third year at Woods Charter School. My goal is to teach French language but at the same time, to share the French culture and habits.

For the students in Elementary school, the contact with another language is a new exercise. I would like to show them that learning a new language can be fun. I bring a lot of resources from France into the classroom, including books, games, music, movies, slides and even sometimes samples from the French cuisine, so the students can approach this new language in different ways.

I don't usually give homework. I would just encourage parents to ask the children to share with them what they learned. The interest of the parents can help keeping the students motivated.

My own two children attend Woods and I look forward to meeting your child in French class this year.  Please do not hesitate to email me if there is something I can do to enhance your child's French experience at Woods.

A bientôt !
