Jennifer Wood

Hello Parents and Students! Welcome to the class of 2022.  Allow me to introduce myself, I am Ms. Wood.  What an exciting year this will be for everyone.  My partner, Ms. Kaman, and I are preparing to make your experiences in the classroom stimulating and memorable.   You may find my last name similar to the school’s name.  Unfortunately, there is no relationship between our names it is only coincidence.  I am the first and only member of my family to live in North Carolina.  Actually, our Wood family tree originates from Canada.  My family moved to the US when I was in first grade.  The transition between the Canadian and the American school systems was difficult for me.  My mother tutored me to make sure that I was where I needed to be.  Not only did she succeed, she modeled for me the importance of education.  When it came time to go to college, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.  In 2006, I graduated from Ohio University with a degree in Early Childhood Education.  Following that, I accepted my first job in Las Vegas, Nevada as a full day Kindergarten teacher.  After two years at the year-around school, I have developed a love for teaching Kinder.     Kindergarten is a very important year. It is the foundation to an enjoyable and successful education.  Children will grow mentally, physically, and socially this year.  Students, teachers, and parents must work together as one for our goals to be achieved.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at anytime. There are a few things you can do to prepare for the first day of school.  You can check out the following books from the library to read; The Night Before Kindergarten by Natasha Wing and Julie Durrell, Off To Kindergarten by Tony Johnston, First Day Jitters by Julie Danneberg, Kindergarten Countdown by Anna Jane Hays, A Place Called Kindergarten by Jessica Harper, and Count Down to Kindergarten by Alison McGhee and Harry Bliss.  Remember to pack your supplies, wear your favorite outfit, eat a good breakfast, and don’t forget your smile!    See you soon!Ms. Wood
