Although I have worked at Woods for the past seven years, I am excited about my new role this year! I will be returning to the classroom to teach one 9th Grade Biology class. This is in addtion to my duties as the Testing Coordinator as well as the HS Counselor! I love teaching and am happy to return to the classroom!
I have a Bachelor's degree in Science- Biology from Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY. I received my Masters of Arts in Science Education from New York University and my second Masters in Education in School Counseling from North Carolina State University. I hold teaching certificates in NY. New York City and NC for Science grades 6-12. In addition, I am a Licensed School Counselor for K-12 in NC.
Before moving to NC in 1997, I taught for six years at DeWitt Clintin HS in the Bronx NY. This experience solidified my desire to be a teacher! I took a twelve year hiatus from the classroom to start a family, and have three lovely young daughters.
The most appealing aspect of Woods for me is the relationships that are formed between the staff and students. I can remember that ONE teacher in my HS career who was there for me, encouraged me and picked me up when I fell down. Each day I teach, I aspire to be that ONE teacher for a student! At Woods, these relationships are encouraged, fostered and are the cornerstone of our community. It is the"Woods way"!
